I have an important update to share with all current clients, past clients, and families looking for a senior portrait photographer.
Swartz Portraits is relocating to Spring, Texas (77386).
This move gives the studio a stronger base for creating fine art senior portraits throughout Spring and the greater Houston area. Every element you expect, the intentional, personal, collaborative process, sessions tailored to your seniorโs style, and a polished approach from first consultation to product delivery, remains unchanged. Only the city is different; everything essential stays the same.
For Class of 2027 families: Senior portrait sessions for August are booking now, and spots are limited. If you are ready to act, secure your free in-home consultation at swartzportraits.com/scheduler-service/free-in-home-consultation immediately, as the May window is limited to a few Class of 2026 Seniors who are holding out on getting their portraits, and we are now welcoming the Class of 2027 Seniors to start planning their senior portraits. ย I am heading back to Virginia June 2nd to close out final high school senior portrait sessions. The earlier you book, the more likely you are to get your desired appointment for your consultation and senior portrait session.
The decision to move Swartz Portraits from Chesapeake to Spring took time. It grew from years of visits and realizing that the next chapter of this work needed a new place.
My son moved to Texas in 2015, and now he has a growing family. I visited often and got to know the community. I found that people here value quality in the same way this studio always has. Families in Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe, and the Houston area invest in things that last. They understand the difference between work that is just okay and work that is truly well done. That belief is at the heart of fine art portraiture, so finding a community that shares it made the decision easy. Plus, having grandchildren to spoil most definitely sealed the deal.
We still offer senior portrait sessions by application only, accepting a limited number each year to give every client our full attention. The studio books 100 sessions per year, one per day. Once those 100 spots are filled, we close bookings for the year.
Sessions can last up to five hours because we take our time creating our signature fine art portrait style, offer multiple locations, and unlimited outfit changes during the session. They can take place in Spring, around Houston, or at sunrise on the Texas coast in Galveston or Corpus Christi. Travel up to 100 miles from Spring is included in the session fee. The goal is not just to deliver photos, but to create heirloom portraits for your home, meant to be printed, displayed, and treasured for generations.
Each session is still built around your senior's style, energy, and personality. The creative process remains calm, thoughtful, and polished from start to finish. GraphiStudio heirloom products are made in Italy and delivered to your door. The reveal appointment happens in your home, set up on your TV, and grandparents are welcome. Only the businessโs zip code has changed; everything else is the same.
Every Virginia family I promised work to will receive exactly what was agreed. Iโll be in Chesapeake starting June 3rd, finishing all scheduled sessions and completing every portrait commitment before I return to Texas. Changing the address does not affect any promise made to Chesapeake families.
In June and July, I will fulfill educational travel and senior portrait sessions in London, Paris, and Rome. These pre-scheduled sessions align with families' international travel and destination portraits.
A senior portrait session in Paris, with the right location and light, is one of the most unique experiences I offer. A student who traveled to Rome for an educational program and chose a portrait session there gets the same creative approach, but over multiple days and locations throughout each country we visit. They receive the same craft and the same standard as any session in Spring, Texas. The place may change, but the quality does not.
Between my time in Europe and returning to Texas in late July, Iโll spend a week on an Alaskan cruise. This is both a personal milestone and a chance to refresh my professional perspective.
I have photographed professionally in more than 65 countries over four decades, in conflict zones, humanitarian missions, diplomatic missions, remote ceremonies, and places that barely appear on maps. But I have never stood at the edge of an Alaskan glacial river to photograph a grizzly bear catching his morning breakfast, a salmon in midair. That shot has been on my list for years. This summer, I plan to finally capture it. Bucket list, officially checked.
The Alaska trip is a way to refresh my professional skills. Photographing in those conditions sharpens how I see light, timing, and motion in ways that studio work cannot. In August, Class of 2027 families will benefit from the new perspective I bring back from Alaska. Thatโs part of my preparation.
The Houston area offers amazing places for portraits, like Old Town Spring at sunrise, Mercer Botanic Gardens in any season, Pundt Park along Spring Creek Greenway, The Woodlands Waterway in the evening, Lake Conroe at golden hour, and Buffalo Bayou Park with the Houston skyline. Each session uses locations that matter to the senior. Itโs important to me that I never get comfortable creating images, because each senior is unique, and their portrait vision is something theyโve thought about since they first saw what senior portraits can be. A very personalized and creative storytelling process.
For families who want a coastal setting, Galveston is within our 100-mile standard travel limit, and Corpus Christi, while much farther away, is possible with a little additional planning and coordination. The Gulf Coast barrier island offers a unique light and atmosphere you canโt find inland.
Swartz Portraits holds no school contracts and is independent of every district in the Houston metro. I serve seniors from Grand Oaks, Oak Ridge, The Woodlands High School, College Park, Conroe, Caney Creek, Klein Oak, Klein Cain, Klein Forest, Klein Collins, Klein, Tomball, Tomball Memorial, Magnolia, Magnolia West, and private schools including The John Cooper School, The Woodlands Christian Academy, Concordia Lutheran, Frassati Catholic, Houston Christian, Second Baptist School, St. John's School, Kinkaid, Strake Jesuit, and St. Agnes Academy. Homeschool seniors are welcome. Seniors who want to travel to Texas specifically for their session are also welcome.
August senior portrait sessions for the Class of 2027 are now open. The calendar fills up in the order that consultations are confirmed and sessions are booked.
From now until June 1st, I have a limited window for in-home consultations in Texas before I return to Chesapeake. There are five consultation slots each week, Monday through Friday, at 8 PM. These slots are first-come, first-served.
When I return to Texas in late July, the full August calendar opens. There will be three consultation slots each day, Monday through Friday, at 4 PM, 6 PM, and 8 PM, starting August 1. Families who consulted in May will already have their sessions confirmed, and August consultations will be booked from the remaining dates.
If youโre ready to get started, you can book a consultation at swartzportraits.com/scheduler-service/free-in-home-consultation. The consultation takes place in your home and lasts about an hour. Iโll bring GraphiStudio heirloom products for you to see and hold before you decide. Weโll design the session together. Thereโs no cost and no obligation.
