Questions

Frequently Asked

Who is eligible to refer?

The senior portrait referral program is open to two groups: (1) past Swartz Portraits clients, meaning parents or legal guardians of seniors who have completed a session and purchased products; and (2) active Swartz Portraits Senior Ambassadors. If you have walked through the Swartz Portraits experience yourself, or if you've been selected as a Senior Ambassador, you are eligible.

I'm a Senior Ambassador. How does this work for me?

Senior Ambassadors earn the same tiered milestone rewards as past clients: 24-by-24 floating frame at the 1st successful referral, $500 gift card at the 5th, $1,000 gift card at the 10th. The lifetime counter does not reset. For Senior Ambassadors under 18, all reward delivery and any IRS Form 1099-MISC tax documentation is issued to the parent or legal guardian on file. The Senior Ambassador program itself is described at our Senior Ambassador page.

When do I earn my reward?

Your reward is earned when the referred family completes their heirloom product purchase after the reveal session. Booking a session with the senior portrait photographer Spring Texas families recognize is not enough; the family must move all the way through the experience and select heirlooms. This protects the integrity of the senior portrait referral program.

What counts as a successful referral?

A successful referral is a family new to Swartz Portraits who books a consultation, completes a senior portrait session, and purchases heirloom products. Family members of the referrer, prior inquiries, and self-referrals do not qualify. See the Program Terms below for the complete definition.

Does the counter ever reset?

No. Your referral counter is lifetime. Every successful referral you make, in any year, counts toward the 1st, 5th, and 10th milestones. Referrals accumulate forever.

What if I don't have their permission to share contact information?

No problem. Submit the form with your own contact information and a note about the family. You can then introduce them personally and direct them to inquire with us when they're ready. Either path counts as a referral.

How do I track my referrals?

Every referral submitted is recorded against your client file. When the referred family completes their heirloom product purchase, you receive a personal note from Ty acknowledging the milestone. We track the count so you don't have to.

Where does Swartz Portraits photograph?

The studio is in Spring, Texas, and the service area covers senior portraits The Woodlands TX families come to us for, senior portrait photographer Conroe TX work, and the broader Houston metro senior portraits market within a 100-mile working radius. Senior portrait photographer Spring Texas families recognize Swartz Portraits as the application-only fine art studio for the region. We accept Class of 2028 senior portraits applications and beyond for families across the region. Senior portraits The Woodlands TX, senior portrait photographer Conroe TX work, and Houston metro senior portraits all flow through the same Spring studio.

Can I refer a Class of 2028 family if my own senior is older?

Yes. Class of 2028 senior portraits applications are open now, and many Class of 2028 senior portraits referrals come from families with older seniors who already completed their Swartz Portraits experience. Your lifetime referral counter advances regardless of the referred family's class year.

Will my reward affect my own portrait order?

No. Your referral reward is separate from your own senior portrait wall art for home or heirloom orders. Whether you're adding senior portrait wall art for home displays, ordering an additional heirloom senior portrait album for a grandparent, or commissioning new senior portrait wall art for home for a recently remodeled space, those orders remain entirely independent. You receive the frame at the 1st milestone, the $500 gift card at the 5th, and the $1,000 gift card at the 10th, separate from any current or future heirloom senior portrait album orders you place with Swartz Portraits.

Program Terms

These terms govern the senior portrait referral program operated by Swartz Portraits, the application only senior portraits studio and senior portrait photographer Spring Texas families have known for years, based in Spring, Texas. By submitting a referral or accepting a program reward, the referrer agrees to these terms.

Eligibility

The senior portrait referral program is open to two participant groups: (a) past Swartz Portraits clients, defined as parents or legal guardians who have completed a senior portrait session with Swartz Portraits and purchased heirloom products from that session; and (b) active Swartz Portraits Senior Ambassadors, defined as seniors selected for the current Senior Ambassador class as confirmed by Swartz Portraits records. Past-client referrers must be at least 18 years of age. Senior Ambassador participants under 18 may participate with parent or legal guardian consent on file. Swartz Portraits employees, contractors, and immediate family of Ty Swartz are not eligible.

Senior Ambassador Participants Under 18

For Senior Ambassador participants who are under 18 years of age, all reward delivery, IRS Form W-9 collection, and IRS Form 1099-MISC tax documentation will be issued to the parent or legal guardian of record. The parent or legal guardian assumes responsibility for tax obligations on rewards received on behalf of the Senior Ambassador.

Definition of Successful Referral

A successful referral is defined as a family that satisfies ALL of the following criteria: (a) is new to Swartz Portraits with no prior inquiry, consultation, or booking on file as of the referral submission date; (b) is identified by name, contact information, or other identifying detail on the submitted referral form; (c) books a consultation with Swartz Portraits within twelve months of the referral submission date; (d) completes a senior portrait session with Swartz Portraits; and (e) purchases heirloom products from Swartz Portraits after the reveal session. Family members of the referrer (sibling seniors of the referrer's senior, cousins, nieces, nephews) do not qualify. Self-referrals do not qualify. Referrals of prior Swartz Portraits inquiries do not qualify.

Reward Structure

The program is structured as a lifetime cumulative milestone reward. Rewards are issued at three milestones only: the 1st, 5th, and 10th successful referral. Referrals 2 through 4 and 6 through 9 do not carry separate rewards. The lifetime counter does not reset by calendar year, class year, or any other interval. Rewards at each milestone are:

1st successful referral: a 24-by-24-inch floating-frame heirloom piece featuring one of the referrer's senior portraits, produced by Swartz Portraits' standard heirloom production partner and delivered after personal inspection by Ty Swartz.

5th successful referral: a $500 gift card from a generic retailer of the referrer's choice (Amazon, Visa, or comparable). Selection of retailer must be communicated to Swartz Portraits in writing within thirty days of reward notification.

10th successful referral: a $1,000 gift card from a generic retailer of the referrer's choice. Selection process is the same as the 5th milestone.

When Rewards Are Earned

A milestone reward is earned at the moment the referred family completes their heirloom product purchase from Swartz Portraits. Referrals where the family books a session but does not complete a heirloom product purchase do not advance the counter. Rewards are prepared and delivered within sixty days of milestone confirmation.

Tax Reporting and W-9 Requirement

Recipients are responsible for any tax obligations resulting from receiving program rewards. Swartz Portraits will issue IRS Form 1099-MISC for any recipient whose annual reward total exceeds $600 in a calendar year. A completed IRS Form W-9 will be requested from the recipient before issuance of the $500 milestone reward, the $1,000 milestone reward, or any other reward that would bring the recipient's annual program total above $600. Failure to provide a completed W-9 within thirty days of request may result in delay of reward issuance or, where required by federal law, withholding of federal income tax from the reward.

Material Connection Disclosure (FTC)

Participants in the senior portrait referral program acknowledge that they will receive compensation in the form of program rewards for successful referrals as described in these terms. Federal Trade Commission guidance requires disclosure of this material connection when participants recommend Swartz Portraits to others. Swartz Portraits encourages participants to be transparent with the families they refer about their participation in the program.

Permission to Share Contact Information

By submitting a referral, the referrer represents and warrants that one of the following is true: (a) the referrer has obtained the referred family's permission to share their name and contact information with Swartz Portraits, OR (b) the referrer will personally introduce the family and direct them to contact Swartz Portraits on their own initiative. Swartz Portraits will not contact a referred family directly without explicit confirmation of permission on the referral form.

Privacy

All information submitted through the referral form is handled in accordance with the Swartz Portraits Privacy Policy. Referred families receive the same data protection as direct inquiries. The referrer's name is not disclosed to the referred family without explicit consent.

Verification and Sole Discretion

Swartz Portraits retains sole discretion in determining whether a referral qualifies as successful under these terms. Edge cases (referrals near a class-year boundary, referrals where the referred family was independently considering Swartz Portraits, etc.) are resolved in good faith and in favor of the referrer where reasonable.

Program Modification and Termination

Swartz Portraits reserves the right to modify or terminate the senior portrait referral program at any time with reasonable advance notice posted to this page. Earned milestone rewards from completed successful referrals at the time of any modification or termination will be honored under the program terms in effect when the referrals were submitted.
