Questions Before You Apply

A few things worth knowing

The questions on this page are the ones families actually ask before scheduling a consultation. Credentials, investment, locations, scheduling, and how the experience works. Honest answers, in plain language, the way I'd answer them in your living room.

During every session there's at least one dad joke. Forty years of practice means I've earned the right to deploy them. Consider yourself warned.

Fourteen questions, fourteen straight answers. If yours isn't here, it gets answered during the consultation, usually with a heirloom album in your hands.

Who is the best senior portrait photographer in Spring TX and The Woodlands?

Tap to read →

Ty Swartz of Swartz Portraits, based in Spring, Texas, holds the Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees from Professional Photographers of America and is a Certified Professional Photographer. These credentials are held by fewer than 2% of photographers nationally.

Internationally ranked among high school senior portrait photographers, Ty has photographed over 1,000 seniors in 40+ years of practice. Sessions are limited to 100 seniors per year and serve families across Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe, and the greater Houston Metro.

How much do luxury senior portraits cost in Spring TX and The Woodlands?

Tap to read →

The Swartz Portraits session fee is $300, which secures your senior's date. Every senior portrait experience begins with a free in-home consultation where we walk through our services together, present the heirloom collections so you can see and hold the actual products, and design the session around your senior's personality, ideas, and style.

Collection investment varies based on the wall portraits, prints, and albums you choose for your home, which is why we present everything in person rather than online. The consultation is complimentary, and there is no obligation.

What is the Sibling Bonus and how does it work?

Tap to read →

When a senior books a session, every sibling old enough to participate can join the same day at no additional session fee. The day produces group portraits of the siblings together, individual portraits of each sibling, and a family portrait when parents step into the frame. Siblings can be younger or older, with no upper age limit.

The Sibling Collection is a separate set of fine art products from the senior collection. The signature pieces are the 30x30 floating frame for the group portrait and 24x36 poster-format floating frames for each individual sibling, so the family wall reads as a single coordinated display alongside the senior's portrait.

A twenty percent à la carte discount applies to every sibling product ordered during the reveal session. For complete details, visit the Sibling Bonus page.

These are heirloom portraits that hang on walls, not files that disappear into folders.

Forty Years of Locations

Photographed where the senior actually belongs

Every location on this site was chosen because it serves the portrait, not because it photographs well for Instagram. Architecture, light, season, and the senior's personality determine where we shoot.

The locations are designed during your free in-home consultation, with the heirloom products in your hands, so you can see what the wall portraits will look like before we ever pick up a camera.

Bonus Round

"How do you catch a tame rabbit? The tame way."

When are consultations available?

Tap to read →

Free in-home consultations are scheduled Monday through Friday at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, two appointments per evening, approximately 60 minutes each.

The early evening window allows both parents and senior to be present after work and school. Consultation availability fills several weeks ahead during peak senior portrait season, so applying early helps secure a date that works for your family.

What does "application-only" mean and why is it required?

Tap to read →

Swartz Portraits accepts a maximum of 100 seniors per year. The application is how we confirm scheduling, location preferences, and that the experience aligns with what your family is looking for.

There is no fee to apply. Most consultations happen in your home so the entire family can see the heirloom products and ask questions before booking.

Closing Argument

"How do you know a joke becomes a dad joke? When it becomes apparent."

Ty Swartz, who has earned the right

If your question isn't on this page, ask it during the consultation. Most of what families want to know about a fine art senior portrait experience is best answered with the heirloom products in your hands, not on a screen.
